Remove Background Without Uploading

Cut the background out of a photo with AI that runs entirely on your device. Unlike online background removers, your picture is never sent to a server.

First run downloads a ~40MB AI model (cached afterwards)

How it works

  1. Open this page — the AI model downloads once and is cached for future visits.
  2. Drop in the photo you want to cut out; it is read straight from your device.
  3. Wait a few seconds while the model segments the subject locally.
  4. Download the transparent PNG — nothing was uploaded at any point.

How local background removal works

Popular background removers upload your photo to a cloud API. This page takes the opposite approach: a segmentation model compiled to WebAssembly runs in your browser tab. Open the network panel in your developer tools while it works — the only download is the model itself, and your image never goes upstream.

FAQ

Is this really free? What's the catch?

No catch: the AI model runs on your device (WebAssembly), so there are no server costs to pass on. The trade-off is a one-time ~40MB model download and a few seconds of local compute.

Are my photos uploaded for processing?

Never. Unlike remove.bg-style services, your photo doesn't travel anywhere — the model comes to your photo, not the other way around.

What images work best?

People, products and objects with clear subjects. Fine hair and semi-transparent objects are the hard cases — check the edges before shipping.
