FAQ

How do I get a color palette from an image?

Drop the image onto the box above (or paste it from your clipboard). The tool downsamples the image, converts RGB values to CIELAB, then uses K-Means clustering to show perceptually meaningful dominant colors. Use the slider to extract anywhere from 3 to 12 colors.

What do the percentages mean?

Each percentage is the share of the image's pixels that belongs to that color cluster — so a sky that fills half the photo shows up as roughly 50%. The bar above the list visualizes the same proportions at a glance.

How do I pick one exact color from the image?

Once an image is loaded, just click anywhere on the preview — the tool reads that exact pixel and shows its HEX, RGB and HSL values, copied to your clipboard automatically.

Which color formats can I copy?

Every swatch shows HEX, RGB and HSL. Click a swatch to copy its HEX code, or use the buttons to copy the whole palette as a HEX list or as ready-to-paste CSS custom properties like --color-1: #3a86ff;.

Does this tool upload my image?

Files are processed locally and are not uploaded to Pocketful. No account is required; the page uses the Canvas API to analyze the image in your browser.
