Hash Generator

Compute MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 digests from text or a local file — all five at once. Paste an expected checksum to verify integrity. All local — data never leaves your device.

FAQ

Is my text or file uploaded?

No. Hashing uses the Web Crypto API built into your browser. Text and files stay on your device.

Which algorithm should I use?

SHA-256 is the modern default for checksums and integrity checks. MD5 and SHA-1 are legacy — fine for verifying old downloads, but avoid them for new security designs.

How does checksum verification work?

Paste the checksum published by your download source into the verify field. The tool compares it against all five digests and tells you which algorithm matches — or that none do.

Can I hash large files?

Yes, within browser memory limits. Very large files may be slow or fail on low-memory devices — that's a browser constraint, not a server limit.
